Ottawa Community Food Support for Families

Foodeliver is an Ottawa-based nonprofit providing dignity-first, last-mile food access to newcomer and low-income families. Our mission is to remove the shame associated with accessing food support — the most significant barrier preventing families from seeking help.

Research from Food Banks Canada shows that 54% of food-insecure individuals avoid accessing support due to shame. Foodeliver exists to address this gap by rethinking how food support is delivered.

We provide nutritious, culturally appropriate food through discreet, direct-to-home delivery, ensuring families can access support in a way that protects their privacy and dignity.

Foodeliver does not aim to create long-term dependency. We work with partners to support families toward stability and independence. Through our collaboration with Pinecrest-Queensway Community Health Centre, families are connected to settlement, employment readiness, and language support. In partnership with the Rotary Club of West Ottawa, children in our program receive access to free English language development opportunities.

Together, this approach combines dignified food access with pathways to economic stability, helping families transition off support over time. Because true dignity is financial independence.

How We Help

How We Work

A Reliable, Diversified Food Supply

Foodeliver operates through three coordinated channels:

Surplus recovery partnerships with restaurants, grocers, and farms
Strategic food purchasing through monetary donations to ensure consistency and nutrition
Fee-based service agreements with community organizations serving their clients

This blended model allows us to maintain quality control, stabilize supply, and deliver predictable weekly support while reducing food waste across Ottawa.

We work with community organizations under formal service agreements to support referred clients.

Each partnership includes a clearly defined service scope, coordinated delivery schedules, and ongoing communication. This ensures transparency, accountability, and a reliable experience for both partners and the families we serve.

Safe, Vetted, and Dignified Delivery

All food handling follows safety protocols. Volunteers are trained and complete Police Record Checks before participating in deliveries.

Food is delivered directly to families in a discreet and respectful manner, removing transportation barriers and protecting privacy. Reliable, coordinated weekly deliveries ensure families receive consistent support they can depend on.

Our Programs

Organizational Partnership

We work with community organizations to support their clients through tailored, culturally appropriate food deliveries tailored to individual household needs.

Services are delivered through formal partnerships and service agreements, allowing organizations to extend their support with reliable, direct-to-home food access.

Family Sponsorship

The Family Sponsorship Program allows individuals, groups, or organizations to directly support a family experiencing food insecurity. A monthly contribution of approximately $200 covers the cost of food purchase, preparation, and delivery for one family, enabling consistent and dependable support.

This model creates a clear, tangible way for supporters to make a direct impact in their community.

Partial Cost Recovery

We offer a flexible model in which sponsored families contribute voluntarily based on their financial capacity. Families may cover a portion of the cost, while the remainder is supported through donations and partnerships generated from the other two models.

This approach promotes dignity and personal agency, while ensuring access to nutritious food remains inclusive and sustainable.
